What are HDD and SSD?

The HDD- (Hard Disk Drive) is a well-known device, and those who have a fair amount of knowledge about computers and are familiar with this device. It is known to everyone as hard disk. It is basically a storage device on the computer. But now another device like HHD is becoming very popular, which is known as Solid State Drive (SDD). Hard Disk Drive came first in the market in 1956 by IBM. For nearly 60 years, we have been using HDD for various works. Because of its development, it is useful to use the server and personal computers. Currently, most computers use hard disks as a non-volatile system and hard disk is used in digital video recorders, music players, etc. More than 200 companies, has prepared this drive. Some reputable companies, including Seagate, Toshiba, and Western Digital, are notable.

Hard disks originally formed by multiple concentric disks. Call it Platters. They are covered with magnetic metal. Platters are combined with magnetic heads. There is another active actuator arm with them. This actuator is used to read information and to store information from the surface of the arm platelets. The data is transferred to the drive based on the random-access process. This means that data is stored on the drive when it is not sorted later, but data is stored in an empty space. Hard disk drive keeps the data even after the computer is shut down. Usually, 54,000 RPM (Revolutions per Minute) or spin at 7200 RPMs on laptops, although some server-based platters can spin up to 15,000 RPMs (Revolutions per Minute).

The primary feature of a hard drive is its capacity and efficiency. The main advantage of an HDD is to keep a lot of information in it. At present, 1TB (Terabyte -1,024 Gigabyte) storage is very common for a laptop hard drive and can be easily used by this place.

Solid State Drive (SSD)

According to the 2015 data, Hard Drive's main competitor technology is the Solid State Drive (SSD) flash memory. Data is stored on the USB drive, in microchips, SSD stored data in the same way. We all are familiar with Pen Drive or USB memory stick. This SSD is basically a big and advanced version of the USB memory stick or our familiar pen drive. There is no disk or moving part in it but instead, there is a microchip in which the information is stored. Usually, SSD is called NAND-based flash memory. It's non-volatile memory.

This is a kind of reservation system where if you turn the disc off, In that case, it does not forget what kept it. The matter is clear for those who read the NAND GATE-NOR GATE. And this is that non-volatile property, it is very important for permanent memory and necessary. MacBook works very faster because SSD (Solid State Drive) is used instead of hard-disk in MacBook. Solid State Drive costs much more than hard-disk, so it is not yet reachable to everyone. Solid State Drive only takes about 10-15 seconds to start computers, where computers with hard disk drive spend around 1 minute to start. SSD can finish 3 times faster than HDD in case of any software install and any work. SDD is very thin and slim in size from hard disk, so SDD can be used to get faster performance if there is no problem with the money.

SSD offers a lot of support to speed up any work on a computer, and SSD is now used in most server computers.
