Domain and Hosting Cost 2026: Real Prices and Renewals
Register the name before someone else does Search domains →

How much does a domain and hosting cost in 2026? Less than most people expect for the first year, and more than many expect from the second year on. Several prices also changed this year: the .com price goes up on 1 November 2026, country domains such as .bd got cheaper, SSL certificates now expire much faster, and the memory inside every server became more expensive.

This guide gives real 2026 prices for domains and hosting, explains the difference between first-year and renewal prices, shows what "free domain" offers actually include, and works through the total cost of three typical websites. Prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise.

Short version:

  • A .com domain costs US$14.77 a year at TOSHOST, and .com prices rise by about 7% from 1 November 2026.
  • Shared web hosting starts at about US$2–3 a month on annual billing. A cloud VPS starts at about US$8 a month, and a managed VPS at around US$50.
  • A small website with a domain and shared hosting costs roughly US$25–40 in its first year and US$40–60 a year after that, once the domain is no longer free.
  • "Free domain" means free for the first year. Always check the renewal price of both the domain and the hosting before you buy.
  • Country domains can be cheaper than .com: a .com.bd costs Tk 700 to register in 2026.

1. Domain prices in 2026

The yearly price of a domain depends mostly on its ending. Common endings such as .com, .net and .org sit in the mid-teens of US dollars a year, a few country and new endings cost less, and endings popular with startups cost more. Here are TOSHOST’s current registration prices for the most popular endings, with free WHOIS privacy and DNS management included.

DomainPrice per year (TOSHOST, 2026)Best for
.comUS$14.77Almost any business or brand; the ending people type by default
.netUS$14.99Tech and network services, or a second name next to your .com
.orgUS$14.98Non-profits, communities and open-source projects
.co.ukUS$11.99Businesses selling in the United Kingdom
.xyzUS$12.99Side projects, personal sites and short brandable names
.devUS$16.99Developers and software projects (the ending requires HTTPS)
.shopUS$29.99Online stores that want the purpose in the name
.ioUS$39.99Tech startups and SaaS products
.com.bdTk 700 registration, Tk 1,020 renewal (registry fee, plus VAT)Businesses in Bangladesh; free with annual BDIX hosting where eligible

See the full list of 400+ endings on our domain page. When you compare registrars, check the renewal price as well as the first-year price, because some sell the first year cheaply and make it back at renewal.

.com prices rise from 1 November 2026

The .com registry is raising its wholesale fee by about 7% from 1 November 2026, for new registrations, renewals and transfers, and its agreement allows a similar rise in each of the following years. Registrars generally pass the increase on as soon as it applies.

What to do: a .com can be renewed up to ten years ahead, and renewals processed before the change are charged at today’s price. If you will keep a domain for years, extending it now is the simplest saving available this year.

Country domains: often cheaper and more local

Country endings (ccTLDs) are set by national registries, so prices and rules differ a lot. Some are cheaper than .com, some require local documents, and many help with local search and trust. In Bangladesh, for example, a .com.bd costs Tk 700 to register and Tk 1,020 a year to renew, short names such as yourname.bd are open to the public at Tk 1,280, and registration needs documents such as a national ID or trade licence.

If most of your customers are in one country, register that country’s ending as well as a .com, and point both at the same site.

2. Hosting prices in 2026

Hosting is usually the bigger part of the bill. What you need depends on the site, not on the cheapest headline price.

Hosting typeTypical 2026 priceGood for
Shared web hostingUS$2–10 a month (TOSHOST from US$2.00 a month billed yearly, or US$2.50 month to month, with a free domain for the first year)Blogs, portfolios, small business sites
Local network hosting (for example BDIX in Bangladesh)From US$1.63 a month at TOSHOSTSites whose visitors are mostly in one country
WordPress hostingUS$5–30 a month (TOSHOST from US$10)WordPress sites that need caching, staging and updates handled
Cloud VPS (self-managed)US$6–40 a month (TOSHOST from US$8, month to month)Developers, apps, several sites, custom software
Managed VPSUS$40–150 a month (TOSHOST managed 2 vCPU / 4 GB at US$52)Business sites where downtime costs money
Dedicated serverUS$80–600+ a monthHigh-traffic sites, databases, compliance needs

Why VPS and server prices rose in 2026

Memory manufacturers shifted production toward the high-bandwidth memory used in AI data centres, which caused a shortage of ordinary server memory. Market researcher TrendForce estimated that conventional DRAM contract prices rose roughly 45–50% in the last quarter of 2025 and nearly doubled again in the first quarter of 2026. Hosting providers passed part of that on through 2026, and the cheapest VPS plans, where memory is most of the cost, rose the most. Entry-level plans that used to cost about US$5 a month are increasingly priced at US$8 or more.

What to do: check how much memory your site actually uses before upgrading, and consider annual billing on plans you will keep, because it usually fixes the price for the term.

3. What "hosting with a free domain" really includes

Many hosting plans include a free domain. It is a genuine saving, but read the details:

  • It is free for the first year. From year two you pay the normal renewal price, usually US$12–20 for a .com.
  • It usually needs annual billing and covers common endings (.com, .net, .org, and some country endings). Premium endings such as .ai or .io are rarely included.
  • The domain should be registered in your name. Check that you can get the transfer code (EPP code) and move the domain if you leave the host.
  • Look at the hosting renewal price too. A first-term discount on hosting can double at renewal, which matters more than the domain.

Free SSL is now standard, and it matters more than it used to. Since 15 March 2026, public SSL certificates can be valid for at most 200 days, falling to 100 days in March 2027 and 47 days in March 2029. On a host that issues and renews certificates automatically you never have to think about it; buying and installing certificates by hand now means doing it at least twice a year.

4. Total cost: three worked examples

These use TOSHOST's published prices as of October 2026, with the .com renewal at US$14.77. Your own costs will depend on the plan and the domain you choose.

WebsiteWhat it usesFirst yearEach year after
Personal blog or portfolioClassic web hosting (US$2.00/mo billed yearly) + .com free for year oneUS$24US$38.77 (US$24 hosting + US$14.77 domain), at today's prices
Small business siteWordPress hosting (US$10/mo) + .comUS$134.77US$134.77
Online store or appManaged VPS 2 vCPU / 4 GB (US$52/mo, month to month) + .comUS$638.77US$638.77

The pattern is the same at every size: the domain is a small, predictable cost, and the hosting plan and its renewal terms decide most of what you pay.

5. How to pay less for domain and hosting in 2026

  1. Extend .com domains you will keep before 1 November 2026, while today’s price applies.
  2. Compare renewal prices, not first-year prices, for both the domain and the hosting.
  3. Use annual billing on plans you are sure about. It is usually cheaper and fixes the price for the term.
  4. Match hosting to your audience. A server close to your visitors, such as a local network plan for a single-country audience, is often faster and cheaper than a bigger plan far away.
  5. Do not over-buy memory. RAM is now the expensive part of a server; size it to real usage.
  6. Turn on auto-renew and registrar lock so a domain never expires by accident. Losing a domain costs far more than any renewal.
  7. Make sure SSL renews automatically, which free SSL on managed hosting does for you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a domain and hosting cost per year in 2026?

For a small website, about US$25–40 in the first year when the hosting plan includes a free domain, and about US$40–60 a year after that. A .com domain costs US$14.77 a year at TOSHOST, and shared hosting costs about US$2–10 a month.

Is the .com domain price increasing?

Yes. The .com registry raises its wholesale price by about 7% from 1 November 2026, and registrars usually pass it on. Renewals and multi-year extensions processed before that date are charged at today’s price.

Is a free domain with hosting really free?

It is free for the first year, usually on annual billing and for common endings such as .com. From the second year you pay the normal renewal price. Make sure the domain is registered in your name and that you can transfer it if you leave.

How much does a .com.bd domain cost in 2026?

The Bangladesh registry fee for a .com.bd domain is Tk 700 to register and Tk 1,020 a year to renew, plus VAT. Resellers add a service charge, and registration needs documents such as a national ID or trade licence.

Why are VPS prices going up in 2026?

A shortage of ordinary server memory, caused by manufacturers shifting production toward memory for AI data centres, raised memory prices sharply from late 2025. Hosting providers passed part of that on, especially on entry-level VPS plans.
